Growing up as a child in the '50s at 5 Parker St., directly in front of the Pitkin Glassworks, I loved it. There was a time when no fence was present, and my bother and I would play in the field. I think the fence was added in 1959, maybe '58. We moved to Stratford in 1960 when my father, an aeronautical engineer, transferred from Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks to Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford.
